Karma Catches Up With Ole Ball Coach

Hammerhead Snark | November 16, 2008

How does it feel?

How does it feel?

Ex-Florida Gator football coach Steve Spurrier returned to the Swamp yesterday with his Gamecocks from South Carolina and got a rude welcome from his former mates. The Gators ripped South Carolina a new one to the tune of 56-6 and if you can believe it the beating was even worse than the score. It was a fitting slap in the face to Spurrier who relished running the score up on lesser opponents when he was the man in Gainesville. Read the rest of this entry »

May Neverland Be Nevermore

Hammerhead Snark | November 15, 2008

Get out and stay out

Get out and stay out

One time pop star and now genuine alien freak Michael Jackson has finally given up the deed to his little shop of horrors also known as the Neverland Ranch just northwest of Santa Barbara in California (story). The infamous property that was designed to be a child’s dream playground turned into a nightmare after a number of allegations of sexual abuse and inappropriate conduct came to trial. Obama Tours Trashed White House

Hammerhead Snark | November 12, 2008

Later in the afternoon

Later in the afternoon

Earlier this week President-elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle were invited on a tour of the White House by the unelected president-figure known as George Bush. While a cordial and polite tour was shown to reporters and staff in the afternoon an earlier meeting actually took place between the incoming leader and the outgoing criminal that shed even more harsh light on the sorry state of the US executive office and the once pristine White House.

Ridley’s Rebels Soldier On

Hammerhead Snark | November 11, 2008

DiCaprio as CIA Agent Roger Ferris

DiCaprio as CIA Agent Roger Ferris

Acclaimed director Ridley Scott recently released Body of Lies, another tense action/drama film that finds Scott doing what he does best; putting a riddled main character in a suspect system where they have to decide what really matters to them. Scott has mastered the technique of sending protagonists through emotional and physical ringers and with Leonardo DiCaprio filling the role of CIA Agent Roger Ferris in Lies the test continues this time in the Middle East where American ideals and Islamic culture clash in a crash of mistrust and duplicity. 15 Years of 36 Chambers

Hammerhead Snark | November 9, 2008

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the Wu-Tang Clan’s debut album Enter the 36 Chambers, a seminal moment in Hip-Hop and music. 1993 wasn’t a bleak period for Hip Hop. Talented MC’s like Dr. Dre, Nas, Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. were dropping critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums and rap itself was becoming a global force. Whether or not the industry needed the atomic jolt it got from 36 Chambers is debatable but after New York City cousins Robert Diggs (RZA), Gary Grice (GZA) and Russell Jones (Old Dirty Bastard) gathered up the rest of the Clan the fuse was lit and the Wu bomb was set to explode.

Fulmer Volunteers Resignation… Sort Of

Hammerhead Snark |

Fulmer has a back-up career

Fulmer has a back-up career

It’s not easy being Tennessee football coach Phil Fulmer. Sure, you’re successful, probably saved a lot of money and have a national title ring to your resume but after Wyoming came to Knoxville and jilted the Vols 13-7 to drop Tennessee to 3-7 on the year the calls for Fulmer’s head are near deafening. Fulmer is a fine, decent man and reputable head coach but as Tennessee freefalls and teams like Alabama rise quick the Volunteer faithful have become envious of the sudden success of their rivals and want either instant glory or a scapegoat. It’s unfortunate they are settling for the latter.

3 The Hard Way

Hammerhead Snark | November 3, 2008

Hey, don't push that old man

Hey, don't shove that old man

1968. 1969. 1994. If you’re a fan of Penn State then you know what those years mean. Three times in his endless career Joe Paterno has led the Lions to undefeated seasons and been left out of the national title game. And as Texas Tech snuck past Texas and leapfrogged the Lions in the BCS standings  to trail only #1 Alabama the folks in Happy Valley must be thinking WTF!!! Read the rest of this entry »

50, The New Measure of Success

Hammerhead Snark | October 26, 2008

Gee Dave, maybe coaching isn't your calling

Maybe coaching isn't your calling

Remember when scoring 50 points meant you were Oklahoma running the wishbone and your opponent was a community college that could only suit up eight players because the rest were needed in the fields? Well after Saturday’s scoring explosion cracking 50 isn’t that big a deal anymore. Check out the disturbing results of what sounded like promising match-ups: Oklahoma 58 Kansas State 35, Georgia 52 LSU 38, Texas Tech 63 Kansas 21, Florida 63 Kentucky 5 and Rutgers 54 Pitt 34. The Scarlet Knights rip through of Pitt lends more support for the argument that Panther head coach Dave Wannstedt should quietly pack up his things and turn off the office lights when handing over his whistle, now. Knick Fans Rejoice… Almost

Hammerhead Snark |

Thomas thinks up new lie

This man is sick

With the NBA season set to tip off this week New York Knick fans were teased by the report that former head coach, and possibly the worst human being ever, Isiah Thomas tried to kill himself by over-dosing on sleeping pills (story). In June of 2006 Thomas took over as coach of the hapless Knicks and led them on a dark and dismal path to irrelevancy winning 56 games and losing 108. Sexual harassment lawsuits, horrible trades and the audacity of Thomas himself marred the former NBA all-star point guard’s tenure. Thomas refused to accept any blame for New York’s woes, constantly insulted the Knick fans and drove a storied franchise into the depths of basketball hell. And now the clueless coward is again cranking up his denial machine to pin the latest fiasco on his daughter.

College Football: Week 8

Hammerhead Snark | October 19, 2008

This is so freakin' easy!

This is so freakin' easy!

Depending on who you ask the Big 12 has either the most prolific offenses in the country or defenses that belong in the Whack-10. Colt McCoy has led Texas to 101 points in their last two wins against Oklahoma and Missouri and other unbeaten Big 12’ers Texas Tech and Oklahoma State are averaging 45 and 46 points a game respectively. Are these teams good? Sure. Can they stop anyone from scoring just as many points? Probably not. But even with a brutal four-game run in their schedule on the horizon Texas looks poised to take a shot at being hog-tied by either USC or the SEC winner in a BCS title game. The Horns did win it all in 2006 behind Vince Young and maybe McCoy can do the same but the Big 12 inspires as much confidence as Ohio State when it comes to title games.  Read the rest of this entry »
